The Master Gardener Discovery Garden is free and open daily to the public.
Please plan on visiting the Garden anytime during the growing season to view the inspiring Garden designs and exciting new annuals, perennials, grasses, native plants, hardy roses, dwarf conifers and bushes. Remember, gardens are planted to “peak” during the Iowa State Fair, at which time all garden art and plant labels will be in place and Master Gardeners will be available from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm to answer your gardening questions.

The 2012 Iowa State Fair Was Fairlicious!
2012 proved to be a challenging year for the Discovery Garden co-chairs and volunteers with it's extreme heat and lack of rain. With the dedication and team work from everyone the gardens look great just in time for the Iowa State Fair!
Volunteers visited with fair-goers from across the country and answered many questions. We even had a visit from our very own Iowa State University President! Thank you to everyone that pitched in to make 2012 a great year!
If you are interested in being a part of the Discovery Garden, contact the Iowa State Extension office for information on becoming a Polk County Master Gardener, or contact one of the garden co-chairs if you are already certified.
